Agreement to These Terms
These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and TransitPulse LLC ("TransitPulse," "we," "us," or "our"). They apply when you visit www.transitpulse.com, text or call a RideInfo number, or use the RideInfo or Feedback platforms. By using any of these services, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the services. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information, and it is part of these terms.
The Services These Terms Cover
- Our website, including the contact form, demo requests, and meeting bookings.
- RideInfo, an automated transit information assistant. You can call a RideInfo number and speak with a voice assistant, or text a RideInfo number and get replies by text. RideInfo answers questions about next buses, trip planning, service alerts, schedules, and fares.
- Feedback, a platform transit agencies use to receive and manage rider complaints and feedback, and its rider portal for transit alerts.
RideInfo replies are generated automatically by software, including AI language models. You are not texting or talking with a person unless the assistant transfers your call to one.
A transit agency that licenses our platform operates its own RideInfo number under its own name. A written agreement between TransitPulse and that agency governs the agency's use of the platform. Where these terms and that agreement conflict, the agreement controls for the agency. The agency's own terms and privacy notice may also apply to riders who use the agency's number.
RideInfo SMS Terms
Program name and description
RideInfo by TransitPulse is a transit information service by text message. You text a question about transit service, and RideInfo replies with an answer. During a RideInfo phone call, you can also ask the voice assistant to text you trip directions. RideInfo sends only the replies and directions you ask for. It does not send marketing or promotional messages.
How you opt in
- By texting a RideInfo number. Your first text to the number is your request to get replies. Our first reply confirms the program and tells you how to get help or opt out.
- By saying yes on a call. The voice assistant asks if you want directions texted to the number you are calling from. It sends one text only if you say yes, and only to that number.
RideInfo never texts a number first. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase.
Message frequency
Message frequency varies with your requests. RideInfo sends about one reply for each text you send, and one text for each set of directions you ask for on a call. A long answer can arrive as more than one message.
Cost
Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier, not TransitPulse, sets those rates. TransitPulse does not charge you for RideInfo messages.
How to stop messages
Reply STOP to any RideInfo message to opt out. You can also reply UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, or STOPALL. You will receive one final message that confirms you are unsubscribed. After that, RideInfo sends nothing to your number. To start again, reply START or UNSTOP.
How to get help
Reply HELP to any RideInfo message, or email [email protected].
Carriers
RideInfo works with the major United States wireless carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on your carrier and your device, and we cannot guarantee it.
Your number and privacy
We use your mobile number only to reply to your requests. We do not sell it or share it with third parties or affiliates for marketing. Mobile opt-in data and consent are never shared with third parties, except the messaging providers that deliver your messages. See the SMS and Text Messaging section of our Privacy Policy.
Eligibility
You must be the account holder of the mobile number you text from, or have the account holder's permission. RideInfo is for users who are at least 13 years old.
Transit Information Is an Estimate
RideInfo answers come from the transit agency's published schedules and real-time data feeds. Buses and trains can run early, late, or not at all, and the data can be wrong or out of date. RideInfo can also misunderstand a question or give an incorrect answer.
- Treat every arrival time, trip plan, and fare as an estimate. Allow extra time for travel that matters.
- The transit agency's official notices control over anything RideInfo says.
- RideInfo is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call 911.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Send messages or make calls that are unlawful, threatening, harassing, or abusive
- Send automated or bulk messages or calls to a RideInfo number
- Try to break, overload, probe, or get around the security or rate limits of our services
- Try to make RideInfo produce content unrelated to transit, or to extract its instructions or underlying data
- Use the services in a way that infringes the rights of others
We may limit, suspend, or block access for anyone who breaks these rules.
Intellectual Property
TransitPulse owns the website, the RideInfo and Feedback software, and their content, names, and logos. Transit schedule and real-time data belong to the transit agencies that publish them. You may use the services for your own personal, non-commercial transit information needs. You may not copy, resell, or redistribute the services or their output.
Third-Party Services
The services use third-party providers, including telephony and messaging carriers, mapping services, and AI model providers. Their own terms govern their services. We are not responsible for third-party websites that we link to.
Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The services are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, TransitPulse disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or always available.
To the fullest extent the law allows, TransitPulse is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. This includes a missed trip, a missed connection, or a late arrival. Our total liability for any claim about the free services described here is limited to one hundred US dollars ($100). Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you.
Governing Law
The laws of the State of Ohio govern these terms, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any dispute about these terms or the services goes to the state or federal courts located in Ohio, and you and TransitPulse agree to their jurisdiction. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have under a law that cannot be waived.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We post every change on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If a change materially affects the SMS program, we will tell you before it takes effect. If you keep using the services after a change, you accept the updated terms.
